Message in a bottle......
We are often told to listen to others for a piece of advice, we are often forced to copy social patterns in order to fit in, we learn to talk, walk, write, read, even think sometimes from all the people and things that surround us….pretty much everything we learn, our influences comes from the outside. Someone wrote down the “rules” of life and we (some better than others) just follow, we just do it… If you ask me, I don’t see a particular harm on that, guidelines never hurt anyone, and to some extend it actually makes everything more simple and “easy”. My only concern is that by being too busy “learning, copying, showing, doing” we may neglect our inner talk, all those wonderful and helpful messages that come from our smart bottled-shape body. Let us not forget that it was “designed” to work aside us, not against us, so bearing that in mind I have visualized it sharing a few words with us…..
To whom it may concern,
I’m sending an SOS
to the world…
I hope that YOU get my….
I hope that YOU get my….
message in a bottle.
Yours sincerely,
The Body.
When our bodies attempt to communicate with us what they often demand is the skill of listening. Only when you truly pay attention, action can be taken and that is exactly what is needed.
Take food for example. We all know veggies are good, milk helps the bones, fish provides us with Omega 3, exercise burns calories and gives us energy … this list could go forever. Now, how many times have those things that are considered to be goodies, behaved like false friends? Way too many times. So instead of just eating this or doing that because our neighbour really benefits from it, let us be more open to the messages we are given by our body customising our own list of goodies.
We need to learn how to recognize the messages and signs, whether physical or emotional.
Now, on a more practical note, I came across this interesting exercise based on experimental medicine and leave here the suggestion for those wanting to try it out. It was created to help you know the function that each body typology has, it is challenging but it will surprise you as well….
Happy discovery!

- First, draw yourself, as real as possible, without fearing the result, on a big piece of paper (the bigger the better, it should be proportional to our size and height ) you may use colours, the idea as mentioned before is to try to duplicate yourself as close as possible.
- Put it on your wall, so that you can look at it as if it was a complete stranger you were staring at for the first time and be aware of all sensations you get from it.
- Interpret the image. Write down all the obvious details, like, if the image is bigger/smaller to the real you. Is there is one hand, leg, foot bigger than the other, if you missed any part of your body.
- Check what age your drawing seems to have (young or old)
- Write all the things you are able to do thanks to those characteristics, as well as the limitations you may have.
- Ask yourself if with that “body” you are able to fight, seduce, produce, resist. If you are active, powerful, needy.
- What feelings does it bring?
Happy discovery!
